Hello all you Beautiful Ladies.

In my “Structure Of Skin” series, so far I’ve talked about the importance of a good foundation and a primer. And now it’s time to talk about Concealers! Concealers are super important to have in your makeup bag. I bet you are saying: Thora you say that for Every product!! Though it may be true about a lot of products, this one is particularly true. Let me tell you why.

A concealer is a product that can instantly lift and brighten your face. As it name tells you, it can conceal all your little imperfections that can come from late nights, eating too much chocolate, stress... the list can go on .Also it’s great to have in you purse at all time for those touch up you might need at any given time of the day. So listen to me careful when I say this:

Every Woman needs a good concealer!!

Here are my tips on how to pick the right concealer for you..and in some case a  corrector as well.

A concealer should always be one tone lighter than your skin tone. I recommend in most cases a light yellow-toned to mask the blue discolorations (the blues lines under the surface under the eye) and it brightens the skin. If you need more coverage, you should have a corrector, which you put on before your concealer.

The texture is very important. For a light makeup, I recommend using a fluid concealer. My favorite one is Estee Lauders Double Wear, it blends so easily and it has a light to heavy coverage, depending how you use it.(  https://www.esteelauder.com/product/642/22832/product-catalog/makeup/face/concealers/double-wear/stay-in-place-flawless-wear-concealer#/shade/1N-Extra-Light-Neutral )  And for a more heavy makeup, go for a more creamy / dense one, like Mac’s Studio Finish concealer ( https://www.maccosmetics.com/product/13844/314/products/makeup/face/concealer/studio-finish-spf-35-concealer#/shade/NC45).   Be sure to always blend them well in with your skin & foundation. I like using my fingertips for this, as I feel that it blends better with the warmth of my fingers. Also I often like to apply the foundation first…it makes it easier to blend them well together.

I recommend that you avoid applying it on your crow’s feet, as it will only enhance them.

Make sure to apply up to the lashes and in the inner corner space, between the eye and the bridge of the nose. If a corrector is not applied correctly, it can do more harm than good.

Corrector: used for extreme under-eye darkness. They can either be pink or peach toned, depending on your skin color:

Fair skin: pink toned

Medium skin: peach toned

Dark skin: dark peach toned

Colored Correctors:

Green / Yellow: combats redness

Mauve/ purple: counteracts yellow/ sallow undertones

Pink: helps brighten & cancels brownish undertones

Orange / Peach: counteracts blue undertones

You can find in some brands a duo corrector /concealer in the same tube  like Estee Lauders Double Wear custom coverage correcting duo (  https://www.esteelauder.com/product/631/55810/product-catalog/makeup/double-wear/custom-coverage-correcting-duo#/shade/Lavender ), which is a great product, so easy to use and practical at the same time.

As I said before, correctors & concealer can be really good for touch ups & to cover up small, imperfections. What you have to remember is to “dab” your corrector over the area that needs covering up…you get more coverage that way.

Once your corrector / concealer are applied, it’s very important that you “set” them with a loose powder. If not it will end up creasing and with that the point of using a corrector / concealer would be pointless. I like using a transparent loose powder which I applied with a medium brush.

Bobbi Brown has even made a duo compact with a creamy concealer and a pressed powder ( https://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/product/14018/15950/makeup/face-and-cheek/corrector-and-concealer/creamy-concealer-kit/ss11 ).

Now go find yourself the perfect concealer!

A plus
