For those whom have read any of my blogs, you know that I like to “break down” makeup or a makeup product. For me it’s important, not so much as what brand you use, but what, why & how you use it. It’s easy to give you a step by step of a makeup look, but if you don’t know the importance of each product (the how’s, where’s & why’s ) well it’s just a draw of the luck to see & know if it for you, isn’t it?

Powder is a very important step, in your makeup routine. Whether you use it alone to get a light coverage or to set your foundation, powder is a basic must in any person’s makeup kit. Besides the fact that it reduces shininess, evens out your skin tone, it makes that your foundation stays on longer & better.

And believe it or not, there are is an art to finding & using the right powder.

We can break it down to 3 parts:

· Color

Yes, you read it right. The color of your powder can be very important. Though a transparent one can work, it's not good for everyone. A colored powder can make all the difference between a nice & even complexion to a glowy & beautiful one!

The most common color for powders:

Yellow undertones: good for most skin types

Pink undertones: good for pale skin

Orange undertones: good for dark skin

Transparent: if you decide to go for a transpart on, be very careful that there is no white in it as it could make you skin look ashy

· Texture

It all depends on what you want in the end run.

Loose powder: is dense & depending on how you apply it, can give you light to heavy coverage

Pressed powder: is very good for touch-ups. Though be careful to not use too much as it can get to “cakey” in the long run

· Tools

You got 2 principle tools to use. A brush or a powder puff.

Brush: is very good for a soft, naturel look. Use a big brush for all over the face, and a smaller one for the smaller section (under & around eyes, nose & mouth)

Powder puff: will give you a more of a smooth, opaque finish. You press the powder into your foundation, so in a way it becomes like a second layer.

For those you don’t use powder, I hope this helps you get a better insight to the why’s & how’s. And for those who do, I hope that I could give you some new tips or details that help you to do your makeup even more beautiful.

‘till next time my beauties
