Hello you beauties!
Most of us have gone through the phase at one time or another, where we used lip balm like we couldn’t survive without it. And then we go through the phases, where we completely forget all about them.
And bizarrely even though that our lips have a full time job ( eating, talking, being the cushion for our stress or ticks, & overall being the in the center of our faces) they do not really get the love and attention they deserve.
When I was younger, more often than not, my lips suffered sunburn at the beach or cold burns in the high of the winter, because honestly I just forgot about protecting them.
Most women that I come across know when their lips have been negalted & that they are in bad shape. And most of them are very surprised, when I tell them that they need to exfoliate their lips. Does it really work? Yes it does!!
And yes we should hydrate them regularly. Exfoliate AND hydrate!
So here’s to the why, the how’s & the when’s for the lips scrubs :
How
· Product free.
Make sure your lips are clean & free of all makeup.
· Be gentle.
Gently exfoliate lips with your scrub using a clean toothbrush, brushing your lips in a circular motion.
· Hydrate.
Always hydrate your lips after a scrub.
Why
· To remove dead skin.
· To keep lips moist, soft & smooth.
· It helps balms absorb better & lipstick stay on longer & looking more beautiful.
When
You know & feel when you need a good lips scrub. Your lips are dry/ chapped & your lips balm is not getting the job done.
Attention, if you over-exfoliated you lips, you could throw them off balance, which can make them prone to cracking, so follow the golden rule:
Chapped lips: you need to exfoliate them a couple of times a week.
Flacked/ cracked lips: treat them with balms & nourishing treatments but NO scrubs.
So Many Scrubs
There is very wide selection of lips scrubs on the market now, so it should be very easy for you to buy one ! Or depending on your preference, you can even make your own.
These are two of my favorites
· The Honey – Sugar lip scrub ( The Home Made )
Mix one teaspoon of honey with 2 teaspoons of sugar. Then massage the mixture into your lips, using either a clean toothbrush or your fingertips.
· Agave+Weekly Lip Scrub ( https://www.bitebeauty.com/agave--weekly-lip-scrub/2188852.html )
Not only is this one a 3 in 1 (cleanse, exfoliate & condition), its vegan, gluten-free & cruelty-free!!
So, my beauties, keep exfoliating, keep scrubbing and may your lips be smooth & beautiful in the seasons to come. And may they always be lipstick ready!
